Panajachel and Santa Catarina

I´ll keep this blog post short because Pete and I are about to have a big pizza dinner – we´re hungry after a day of adventure!

Today we left the beautiful city of Xela for Lago Atitlan at Panajachel. We were amazed at the stunning views of the lake from the Reserva Natural in Pana.

We then took a tuk tuk to the nearby pueblo of Santa Catarina for some more sightseeing. Our original kayak plans were foiled by the weather and bad timing.

Enjoy the photos, but know that nothing compares to seeing the Lago with your own two eyes!!

  1. […] I should also mention that Pana is a huge tourist town, so that is probably why everything (besides the hotel) was expensive and why the food was so low quality. There are other towns around Lake Atitlan to enjoy, but we only had one day, so we had to stay in Pana to get on our bus the next morning. If I had to go again, I would have stayed in another town. The Lake really is beautiful, and I’d love to spend more time there and go kayaking. Read more about our Pana stay here. […]
